AU Catholic Community

Singing is the sign of the heart's joy (cf. Acts 2:46). Thus Saint Augustine says rightly, "Singing is for one who loves."  There is also the ancient proverb: "One who sings well prays twice."

The Catholic Community Choir & Ensemble at American University transforms St. Augustine’s wisdom into reality. Our group is comprised of both graduates and undergraduates from all walks of life, all regions of the world, and all programs of study. A recognized University club, the Catholic Choir functions as the provider of worship music for both the morning and evening Sunday liturgies at AU.

The group rehearses twice weekly, once during the week and an hour right before each Mass.

Leading the congregation in song and music is the most important duty entrusted to this group. Nevertheless, the Choir holds an annual performance concert during the Advent season. Anyone in the AU Community is welcome to join the choir in offering praise in music and song. Contact our current Musical Director below.
