The Catholic Community at American University is dedicated to fostering opportunities for growth in Catholic faith, fellowship, and service for students, faculty, and staff at American University. The AU Catholic Community consists of various independent Catholic groups at American University unified under the pastoral guidance of the office of the Catholic Chaplaincy located in the Kay Spiritual Life Center on the Main Campus of American University.

The central positioning of the Kay Spiritual Life Center on the AU Campus is a reminder of the founding motto of American University: “Pro Deo et Patria” (For God and Country). Reminded of this founding principle, we seek to put God first in our daily lives.

There are many opportunities to build great faith-filled relationships through our community. These begin, but don’t end at Sunday Mass! JOIN US!

Holy Hour - Thursdays - 5:30-6:15 PM with Evening Prayer at 6 PM
Confessions - Available during Thursday Holy Hour and by Appointment

ECHO Retreat
Making plans for next year? Reserve these dates for our annual ECHO - "Encountering Christ in Others" - retreat, Friday, February 19 to Sunday, February 21. The ECHO is a weekend filled with faith-sharing, good times and friendship. Most of the team members are students or former students from our Catholic community. Father David is the spiritual director. There will be some great talks given by team members, group discussions and liturgical celebrations. Most of all there is joy, warmth, belonging and good times. Many good friendships have begun on ECHO.

The ECHO will take place at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land, near Catholic University. Transportation will be provided. Treat yourself to a weekend away from work and study. For more information, please email

WOMEN'S & MEN'S GROUPS MEETINGS!

Totus Tuus Maria, the Catholic Women's Group on campus, will be meeting FRIDAYS from 2:00 - 3:30 pm at the Catholic couches in the basement of Kay. All women are invited to the great afternoon of prayer, spiritual discussion, and fellowship with other Catholic AU women.
